Phatman’s Creamy Pepper Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 2 Shallots, finely diced
- 3 tbsp Gravy Powder (Beef)
- 400ml Water
- 1-2 tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper (adjust to taste)
- 100ml Cream (Double or Heavy)
Method:
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it starts to foam.
- Add the shallots and sautรฉ until softened and golden, about 4-5 minutes.
- Stir in the gravy powder and cook for 1 minute, allowing it to blend with the butter and shallots.
- Gradually add the water, whisking continuously to create a smooth consistency.
- Add the freshly ground black pepper to taste. Start with 1 teaspoon and increase if you want a stronger peppery kick. Let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing it to thicken.
- Pour in the cream and stir well to combine, bringing the sauce back to a gentle simmer. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until it’s rich, velvety, and creamy.
- Taste, and adjust the seasoning with extra pepper or a pinch of salt, if needed.
