Topped Fries
Fries, Pommes Frites, Chips, the greatest gift from the greatest tuber. Chips are a staple of households across the world and I’ve never met someone who doesn’t like them. Sure we all have friends who go, ‘no I wont have a side of chips, I’m watching my weight’, or ‘I’m not that hungry’, These “friends” then unceremoniously proceed to steal half of our beloved portion.
This happens, it is life, and chips are a right. But can you honestly think of anyone who has said to you, ‘No, I won’t have chips, I don’t like them.’. I’m sure that you haven’t and if you ever do, run, they are a terrible terrible person (or an alien).
For me, I love my chipper chips. Salt and a small metric tonne of vinegar doused over them for the traditionalist in me. But my favourite, absolute go to, is Taco Chips. By all that is holy in this world, the taco chip is for want of a better description is ‘Ambrosia’
Or at least I thought it was until I learned of the many other types of topped chips that can be had utilising toppings from all over the world. My first taste outside of the Irish Chippers taco or garlic-cheese fries was a taste of Carolina Fries. Soft Slow cooked BBQ pulled pork on top of crispy fries, slathered with bbq sauce (nice and hot for me, but to each their own.) and then all of that topped with fresh crunchy coleslaw.
Delicious, delectable, desirable.
So, here on this page, weโre going to discuss chips. Iโll show you how I cook mine from scratch with fresh potatoes. Iโll also rate and review the ones I buy from supermarkets, so you know whatโs worth your time. And of course, Iโll share recipes for all the toppings Iโve used on my fries over the years.

The Topped Ones
Below are my most favourite toppings for sticking on top of fries. Some are suitable for breakfast, some for lunch and others dinner.
Ah who am I kidding, they can be eaten whenver, and as I try out new versions that pop into my head as I wander around the supermarkets or peruse a recipe book I will add them here.
